AI Policy
Effective Date: August 26, 2026
At Seltzer Kings, we believe technology should help people do better work—not make people unnecessary.
We recognize that artificial intelligence is becoming a major part of the media and creative industries. We also believe its rapid, largely unregulated expansion raises serious questions about creative ownership, jobs, privacy, environmental impact, and the future of human work.
Our approach is simple: we use AI where it helps us work smarter, but we put people and human creativity first.
Our Position
Seltzer Kings supports thoughtful regulation of artificial intelligence and protections for the people whose work is affected by it.
We are concerned about the current pace of AI development, including the displacement of creative and other workers, the use of creative work and personal data without meaningful consent, and the environmental impact of rapidly expanding data-center infrastructure.
We don't believe technology should be adopted simply because it can be.
How We Use AI
We primarily use AI as a practical tool for:
Organization and project management;
Planning and preparation;
Research and brainstorming;
Summarizing and structuring information;
Transcription and workflow assistance; and
Making the workload of a small, independent company more manageable.
AI may help us prepare for the work, but people do the work.
We generally opt out of using generative AI to create the core creative work behind our productions. Whenever practical, we'd rather hire a writer, designer, illustrator, musician, editor, performer, or other creative professional.
Our goal is to enable artists, not push them away.
Voices, Likenesses, and Creative Work
Seltzer Kings does not support the unauthorized cloning or synthetic replication of a person's voice, likeness, performance, or identity.
We do not train AI models. We do not use our podcasts, recordings, scripts, artwork, or other creative materials to train AI models, and we do not intend to do so without the explicit consent of the creators involved.
We also do not support the unauthorized use of artists' creative work, recordings, performances, or personal information to train AI systems.
Creators should have a meaningful say in how their work and identity are used—and should be fairly compensated when appropriate.
AI and Our Clients
When Seltzer Kings provides production, creative, consulting, or other services to a client, any use of AI will be consistent with the applicable client agreement and our general approach to AI.
We will be transparent when AI meaningfully affects the creation, processing, or delivery of a client's work. We will not represent AI-generated material as entirely human-created when that distinction is relevant to the work.
Our preference is always to use AI as a supporting tool rather than a replacement for human creative work.
The Bigger Question
Our concerns about AI extend beyond the software itself.
We are concerned about the broader rush to deploy increasingly powerful AI systems without sufficient consideration of their effects on workers, artists, communities, the environment, and society.
We are particularly concerned about the scale of data-center construction and the resources required to support the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.
We believe technological progress should be balanced against real-world costs.
Innovation should not be an excuse to ignore workers, communities, environmental consequences, or the people whose creative work helped make the technology possible.
Our Guiding Principle
AI is a tool, not a replacement for the people who make our work possible.
We will continue to evaluate new technologies based on whether they genuinely help us, while considering their impact on artists, workers, our community, and the environment.
Use technology to empower people—not to make people disposable.
